Senior Programmer / Data Curation Manager,
Nov, 2015 - Present
The Department of Biomedical Informatics is a department within the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, which develops computational tools to manage medical and public health information for patient care and research programs. I worked on a number of grant and informatics projects, including The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA).
Managed a team of 4 developers.
Developed and maintained Posda, the Perl Open-Source DICOM Archive. Posda is a tool for storing, searching, and modifying DICOM images, and aiding in the curation and de-identification of collections submitted to TCIA.
Created Quince, a pure-JavaScript DICOM viewer, and integrated it into Posda.
Created Kaleidoscope, a system to generate Maximum Intensity Projections to speed up visual inspection (a part of de-identification) by more than 5x.
Administered a number of Linux servers that support TCIA and Posda.
Spearheaded a project to package Posda as a Docker image, in preparation for a public release.
Used Posda and CTP (Clinical Trials Processor) to de-identify image collections submitted to TCIA according to HIPAA standards.
Mentored junior developers and staff in various areas, including Python, SQL, and systems administration.
