Cranfield University

Supporting process modelling activities at the Welding and Additive Manufacturing Centre. The centre consists of the foremost experts on Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing(WAAM) and supports the aerospace, energy and mining industries.

  • Liased with industry partners to optimise WAAM processes parameters for microstructure, strength and defect mitigation using FE models
  • Developed new surface heat source model which considers the curvature of weld bead.
  • Implemented thermo-metallurgical predictions using Solid State Phase Transformation (SSPT).
  • Designed and performed validation experiments using WAAM processes such as CW-MIG & PTA.

Sona Comstar

Part of the bevel gear design team. Sona Comstar is one of the world's largest manufacturers of bevel gears and differential assemblies with close to 10% share in the global passenger vehicle market.

  • Developed in-house software for macro and micro design of bevel gear geometry with integrations to share design data to Siemens NX and Team Centre.
  • Created mathematical models to generate Bezier surfaces for optimised bevel gear contact patterns.
  • Liased with international customers to design bevel gears with complete involvement from Request for Quote to production handover.

Mercedes Benz R&D India

FE modelling of car crashes as part of the Crash Structures team.

  • Developed non-linear FE models of fibre reinforced composites in rubber tires for low speed car crash simulations.
  • Studied the impace of various air pressure models of tyres on the lagrangian contact at tyre-road interface.
  • Develivered the test plan for verification of the model for low speed car crashes.
