I'm Lee! I'm a full-stack engineer, weird dad, avid gamer, cyclist, pop-culture enthusiast, and music lover (and musician!) from Calgary, AB. With over 8+ years of experience in both frontend and backend development, I have the expertise you need to bring your project to life. My focus is on crafting high-quality user experiences no matter the technology. Lately, I've been using TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Vercel + Vercel AI, Tailwind CSS, and anything else a project calls for. I am able to learn on-the-fly and use the right tools for the job.
As a Senior Software Engineer at Ava Labs, I work on the Core Web team to build the web-based interface for the Core Wallet. The redesign in 2025 was a green-field project that allowed me to work with cutting-edge technologies and architectures to deliver a seamless experience for users to interact with the Avalanche blockchain and its ecosystem.
As Technology Lead, I work closely with the CTO to build a massive green-field application aimed at changing the way companies do market research. Using bleeding-edge AI technologies and fundamental architectures like Next.js, we're developing a next-generation tool to make market research available to all.
As Technology Lead, I worked closely with a team of 4 engineers to deliver features and improvements to their flagship applications. My focus during my time there was on performance, which I was able to deliver significant improvements to.
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer and Team Lead, I was able to lead and make technical decisions for a variety of projects throughout my tenure there. Bringing bold, modern designs to life on the frontend and delivering performant APIs on the backend allowed me to manage implementation from front-to-back and ensure seamless experiences.
As a Developer for Critical Mass, I get the opportunity to work on a diverse set of global clients with a large variety of technologies and frameworks.
As a Mentor & Instructor for Lighthouse Labs, I help students as they work through the full-time Web Development Bootcamps with in-person, hands-on mentorship. Mentorship includes being on-hand to assist students on a one-on-one basis, as well as performing ad-hoc breakouts as required.
Hosting multiple in-person volunteer HTML/CSS basics bootcamps for people brand new to tech and dipping their toes in
DigitalOcean and GitHub team up to host an annual festival of open-source where users are encouraged to contribute to projects they feel passionately about. Two projects, if-me.org and Alex, were particular highlights as they focused on mental health and encouraging inclusive language.
Lee's contributions formed the technical and cultural foundation of what Contra is today. He believed in our mission, he meshed with the team, and he made things happen. Lee helped us build through the most turbulent times. Priorities would shift mid-flight, but Lee always pulled through. That can-do attitude is how we got our first major partnership with TikTok across the line in just a couple of weeks. He showed up for the team-constantly in PRs giving thoughtful feedback, helping people get work merged, and keeping things moving. Custom profiles, template work, job pricing-everything he touched had ownership behind it. Lee made the product better, the codebase cleaner, and the team stronger. I'd jump at any chance to work with Lee again.
